Industry has found that, while universities prepare students academically, they are not well prepared for professional work. Students gain excellent academic knowledge of the world of IT, but they are not always well equipped to apply this knowledge to solve real life problems…
Employers do not have the time or resources to provide the necessary training for the transition from student to professional employee.
FDM Academy bridges this gap, providing students with a unique opportunity to acquire these skills in a professional environment. What is offered is in some way similar to an apprenticeship or an internship, however in this case the training period is only 12 weeks! In addition to our ‘core technologies’ (Unix, SQL), trainees are also provided with a well rounded set of professional skills to equip them to meet the general requirements for employment with blue chip companies. These include CV writing, time management, communication skills, interview techniques.
Trainees can now confidently start their career with a finely tuned skill set, rather than broad-based theoretical knowledge. A definite win-win … and FDM’s success is a testimony to this.

I wanted to know if i qualify for the training and details such as VISA applications, relocation et al.Could you please get back to me as soon as you are able sothat we can discuss this in more detail.Thank you.

Hello William,
The full programme is for 2 years and 3 months so your visa will need to allow you enough time to complete this if you are working in the UK. If you speak either Cantonese or Mandarin then you can apply to work with our clients in Asia where you wont need this length on your UK visa.
If you cannot commit to the full programme based on the conditions of your visa, then you will want to have a real think about it. We do have opportunities in America, Canada, Asia and other parts of Europe so if you have a work permit to work in those location there are some exciting opportunities there too.
It is difficult to say, without knowing the conditions of your visa but you would want to be sure you can complete the full programme.
Hope this helps
Thank You
Emily

Hi Emily,
Thanks for the reply
I can complete the training programme and Iam willing to commit to the full two and half years (since my studies end January 2013 and Visa expires May 2013)but i do not know how i should proceed with Visa application for the EU/USA/Canada. Do I start application proceedings now or should i wait until you have accepted me into the programme?
Also is there a way i can get your email address so that i can ask more detailed questions. Thank you.

Hi William,
You need to have your visa in place before applying as this will make the process easier. I would not be the right person to speak to about your visa application/status or anythig like that. You need to talk to an advisor outside of FDM who is better informed as we are not qualified to advise you on this I’m afraid
Thank you and best of luck
